PATENTS AND PAPERS
One of the core IdealPV inventions is the elimination of reverse conduction in solar panels.  Reverse conduction occurs when a negative voltage bias causes a reverse current to flow across a cell, resulting in its early failure, and placing additional stress on neighboring cells.  Read more information in this white paper.

Microcracks are an unavoidable fact of crystalline solar cell technology. A new IdealPV technique called Forward-Only Zero Hot Spot (FOZHS) does not permit reverse bias, rendering microcracks and other reverse breakdown vectors unimportant to the manufacture, installation, use or weathering of solar panels.  Prior solar system architectures assume a safe minimum reverse voltage.  When microcracks reduce reverse breakdown voltages below assumed values, they contribute to a variety of failure modes.  Read more information in this white paper.
